I am torn. On the one hand, out of all of the Naked Palettes, I really like this one. On the other hand, there are a lot of things to say about it.

Urban Decay is actually one of my favorite brands. I have purchased most of their eye shadow palettes and enjoyed wearing them. Lately, I have been noticing that their quality has been declining.

This palette caught my eye because it had some really beautiful shimmers, browns with burgundy undertones, gorgeous, shimmery peachy shadows with hints of red and some lovely, red-violet shades that ranged from light to deep. I was so excited to play with this palette. Here are the colors:

  • Hot Spot (ivory matte)

  • Caution (soft neutral beige matte)

  • Bang Bang (shimmering pink with gold shift and iridescent micro-sparkle)

  • Feelz (soft dusty rose matte)

  • Juicy (soft warm peach)

  • Turn On (pale metallic rose shimmer)

  • Ambitious (metallic rose copper)

  • Bing (deep mauve matte)

  • Devilish (reddish plum matte)

  • Young Love (metallic cranberry)

  • Drunk Dial (deep metallic burgundy)

  • Privacy (deep brownish-plum matte)

The palette colors I saw online were completely different from what I saw in real life and from what I swatched. I had this problem with the Natasha Denona Mini Lila Palette. The difference however, is that these shades are much more wearable for me than Natasha Denona's.

When I swatched all of the shades, I noticed something rather peculiar. The matte shades, had so much kick up it's not even funny. When I lightly used my brush to apply the mattes, a lot of product was wasted! However, the shimmers, there was little to no kick up. Some of the shades, Feelz, Bing, Devilish, and Privacy were vibrant but patchy when I swatched them on my arm. Hot Spot and Caution were almost non-existent and you really have to use your finger to swatch it to get the vibrancy. Not that there is anything wrong with building up colors, but I do prefer my highlight shades to be more vibrant.

I never had this problem with Urban Decay's previous palettes that I have purchased, particularly with their mattes.

I will say that you can create beautiful looks with this palette, however, you really have to put a lot of work into building the mattes since they either apply vibrant but patchy, or really patchy and almost non-existent. The shimmers are gorgeous and to die for, specifically Drunk Dial, Young Love and Ambitious.

Are the shades blend-able, absolutely but I know for a fact that Urban Decay changed their eye shadow formula and I can't say if it really was for the best, considering the quality and the price point. For $49 and considering that it is part of the Naked Brand, I expected better quality in the formula and since you get so little, in a way, I feel a little cheated.

However, this palette is better than Natasha Denona's Mini Lila and I'm willing to try Naked 3 and Naked Ultraviolet. I would rather wait for the price to go down on both, seeing as how I will not be spending the $49 that I paid for this one.

This palette gets 6 cherries out of 10.
