The first thing that caught my eye regarding this palette is the cover artwork.
I love cephalopods, octopis in particular are my favorite. So I was super excited to order the palette and lo and behold, it is stunning! It isn't called Violet Ink for nothing! The shades are in different shades of violet and purple with a nice balance of matte and shimmer/glitter shades and nice sized pans. When I say this palette is pigmented, it is pigmented! The thing with this palette is that once you gently tap you brush and put the shadow on your eyelid, you are good to go, it is that pigmented. The shadows all blend beautifully and are so cohesive together that you can create so many beautiful looks.
The eyeshadow shades from left to right: Mimic (lilac with pink and purple glitter and a grey base), Jellyfish (matte lavender), Ink Jet (a slightly lighter eggplant), Iron Grip (matte, muted purple), Three Hearts (purple shimmer base with lilac and purple glitter) and Octopi (a matte, muted indigo).
With that being said, the kickback on all of the shadows is really bad, even when I gently patted my brush, so you will be hitting pan pretty soon. The shimmer/glitter shades pick up well on the brush but you are better off applying those shades with your finger.
The fallout on the shadows is also horrendous but it's nothing that concealer can't hide.
All in all, this palette is delightful and fun! The colors blend beautifully and you can create so many lovely looks. Purple/Violet eyeshadow shades have always looked lovely on all eye colors so this will work on all eye colors. This palette is very beginner friendly but it is a little messy. This is a solid palette from Menagerie Cosmetics and worth checking the brand out.
This palette gets an 8 octopi out of 10.
