I've been hearing here and there in the internets regarding the latest controversy with Jeffree Star.
I never knew about any of his anti-semitic and racist ideologies when I was purchasing his products 5 years ago. 5 years ago, he came out with liquid lipsticks that were awesome and had great colors.
I stopped buying his products about 3.5 years ago because he made racist comments about a beauty YouTuber, that I will not repeat because its gross.
In light of everything that has come out recently regarding the name of his first makeup line I'm extremely disgusted. Some of my closest friends and people in my life that I consider a part of my family are Jewish. Any attack on them and their community, is an attack on me.
As someone who reviews makeup and beauty products in general, I normally try to review products that you may be interested in, use and experiment and give my honest opinion of them. I don't normally recommend things because everyone has their own tastes and what works for me may not work for you. I also give my honest opinion on the pricing and whether I feel it is expensive or affordable ( a lot of makeup, sadly, is expensive these days and sometimes expensive does not mean excellent quality either).
This is one of the few times I will make a recommendation; please, stop giving your money to Jeffree Star Cosmetics and Jeffree Star. Among the myriad of awful things he has said, he is also known for protecting a pedophile who happens to be his friend, in addition to being anti-semitic and racist.
Vote with your money, boycott him. The products that I had from him, I threw them away. The community, makeup lovers and artists successfully boycotted Kat Von D to the point that Kendo kicked her out and took over. I will not review Kat Von D products but I will review Kendo Vegan Beauty (whenever the brand comes out with their own line and not use the KVD packaging).
As for me, I will never ever review any products from Jeffree Star nor his cosmetic line.
It's a shame because, his stuff is really good. However, my Jewish friends are more important to me than a makeup brand.
Note: If you want an excellent recap and explanation as to why he continues getting a pass for his shitty behavior, check out Pierre XO's video on the matter.
