The Tiny Marvels Palette by Sydney Grace X Mel Thompson was a lovely and pleasant surprise of the Summer! As we are in the beginning of fall, you could say that this palette may be out of place in terms of color story. Before I go any further, here are the shades in the palette:

Web: white with gold shimmer

Treehopper: a matte, light beige

Fire-Butts: a shimmery, cool tone gold

Walking Stick: a matte brown with gray undertones

Scarab: a duochrome brown to blue shimmer

Flutterby: a matte, bright peach

Bee Bee: a shimmery, bright yellow gold

Mantis: a matte, preying mantis green

Meadowhawk: a shimmery coral with some pink undertones

Luv Bug: a matte, muted purple with mauve undertones

Jewel Bee: a matte, bright lavender

Marvel: a shimmery orange with brown undertones

Death Moth: a matte, muted brown

Bug-A-Boo: a matte, maroon with mauve undertones

Spyder: a matte black

One thing I will say about this palette is that the color story is one of the most unique I have seen by far in a lot of summer releases. What is really cool about this palette is that you have one side of the palette that is neutrals and the other side has colors. This gives this palette a little bit of double-edged sword in this case. On the one hand, it is a great palette for beginners, but on the other hand, for people that love neutrals or colors, this may turn people away. I personally love the color story but I can also see why some would find a bit intimidating.

This brings me to the quality of the shadows. If you look at the photo with the swatches, you can tell that the swatches on the left side of my arm are from my brush and the right side has my finger swatches. You can tell that the quality of swatches is almost identical. In other words, the quality is amazing. The only shade that needs a little bit of work to build up is Jewel Bee, but its not too much you need to do. I will say that Scarab, Mantis, Flutterby, Jewel Bee, Web, Spyder and Meadowhawk are by far my favorites, especially Mantis. You don't see a matte green shade like Mantis. As far as fallout and kickup is concerned, it is minimal, which is hard to find shadows that have minimal fallout and kickup.

As far as price goes, some would say that $52 is a little high, but take into consideration that you get 15 shades and the pans contain 2 grams of product. That is a lot of product for 15 shades and for $52, is a great deal.

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are lovely and the palette was actually designed by Mel Thompson's friend and tattoo artist Pat Bennett (you can find her at Red Nimbus Tattoo Club, Murfreesboro, TN) and truly reflects Mel's love of bugs and colorful tattoos. The mirror is a fantastic size and it is easy to open with a magnetic open/closure. Animal Crossing's Flick would also enjoy this palette.

Overall, this palette is a great palette that can easily be used all seasons. The colors work for Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. The lovely combination of the colors and neutrals make this palette fun for beginners that want to play with color but still have some neutrals in their arsenal. The overall quality is fantastic and you get so much product for $52!

There really aren't any huge flaws for this palette. If anything, the flaws are minor. If bugs and color/neutral palettes are your speed, this one is worth checking out and it is a fantastic introduction to Sydney Grace Eyeshadows.

This palette gets 9.5 bugs out of 10 (the half is a baby bug in its larvae stage, it's not an adult yet)
