Where do I begin? I was initially drawn to the palette because it had an adorable 8-bit kitty. As a lot of you are aware by now, I am an unashamed Cat Lady. Then I opened up the palette and discovered an amazing rainbow of matte colors! All named after video game terms. Of course it was an instant purchase for me.
The colors are really fun, easy to blend and since matte colors tend to last a bit longer than shimmer or glitter eye shadows, the performance was really good, considering that I opted not to wear primer for this look. This palette is small and perfect for travel, the packaging and design are super cute and very well thought out. The matte colors are beautiful and really fun!
However, while I was putting this look together, I had an issue with three shades, Player One (Purple), 8-Bit (Blue/Periwinkle) and Twitch (Lime Green). 8-Bit was a little patchy on me when I applied it as was Twitch. Player One is not as vibrant as the other shades in the palette but it was easier to work with than 8-Bit and Twitch. 8-Bit and Twitch took some time to build up.
Aside from that, the palette is a delight! If you are a beginner, this is an excellent palette to purchase for playing with different colors and since it's small, it is super accessible for beginners and accessible to anyone who is not a fan of shimmer/glitter eyeshadows. This palette allows everyone to create a lot of different looks with it and have fun with the palette. I think it's a great beginner palette for cosplayers as well.
The lasting power is good with this palette but primer will help make it last longer. It retails for $28 which us a little bit more expensive but it's around the same price as a small palette from Too Faced or Huda Beauty.
All in all, I really love this palette! It is a hidden gem among other color palettes! I'd say that it is a little more accessible than BH Cosmetics Brazil Palettes (that's another review for another time). Twitch, Player One and 8-Bit are tricky to work with and the lasting power needs a little more work, but this palette is a solid intro palette to Sugarpill Cosmetics.
I give it a solid 8/10. I really wish Twitch and 8-Bit weren't so patchy when I applied it.
This palette along with Sugarpill Cosmetics products are Vegan and Cruelty Free. The Pat McGrath Palettes are not Cruelty Free nor Vegan (I really wish they were though).
