Here we go again.
If you have followed my transition to natural deodorant journey, you are aware that I have tried two brands and found that Native works the best for me, though, there are some flaws (I will be doing a review of the Coconut and Vanilla for Sensitive Skin scent very soon). At the request of a friend of mine, I have decided to review Lume since she stated that she was interested in the product. I was also curious too, specifically regarding the 72 hour odor protection and whether those claims are true or not.
As always, I like to provide a disclaimer, especially regarding anything with dealing with your skin and odor. Just because a product is natural, does not necessarily mean that it is good for you. Specifically when allergies and skin sensitivity comes into play. There are also medical factors and body chemistry involved as well. I would highly recommend that anyone consult any medical professional that they see before making any deodorant/anti-antiperspirant changes.
Since I made the transition to natural deodorant already, I wouldn't have to worry about the sweating process. I purchased the Clean Tangerine scent since I like citrus scents, especially for the Summer. It is cream-based and best applied with your fingers. The scent was very pleasant and, surprisingly, at least regarding my pits, it did last just a bit longer than my Native deodorant. However, that's where all of the pros end.
Here are some of the cons; you get a little bit less product compared to Native (each Lume stick is 2.2 oz compared to Native's 2.65), it is more expensive than Native and some other natural deodorants in the market, it's not available in most retail stores and the biggest one for me, I didn't like the wet, sticky sensation regarding my under arms. For those not in the know, I have certain sensory and textural sensitivities to certain things. Wet, sticky underarms from deodorant is one of those things for me. While the product was effective, my armpits were wet and sticky all day, which I did not like at all and it ended up discontinuing use afterwards.
If texture sensory is not an issue, you don't mind the price and you are content with ordering it online exclusively, Lume is a good product, but I still prefer Native.
This deodorant gets 7.5 clean tangerines out of 10.
