Brand Controversy(ies): None that I'm aware of.

Beetlejuice! When Melt cosmetics announced this collaboration with Beetlejuice an Warner Brothers, I was so excited! Beetlejuice happens to be family favorite and I was excited with what the possibilities would be with a collaboration like this. The choice to release this palette in late November was a curious one at first, but my Mother In Law pointed out to me that it was brilliant due to people wanting to purchase something like this for their loved ones for the holidays. Actual Total Price of All Items if purchased separately: $394.00

Considering the cost of all of the items if they were purchased separately, I'd wager that getting the PR Box was the better move. As far as the packaging and aesthetic goes, Melt really knocked it out of the ballpark and other brands really need to pay attention to how Melt did this Collab because this is exactly how you do a theme and bring it to life. Since the entire collection is in this Box, I will review each item separately and give an overall score at the end.

Let's start with the Pressed Pigment Palettes:

The Recently Deceased Palette has Beetlejuice's color story. The colors are fun, vibrant and pigmented, but there is a catch. Before I explain it in detail, here are the shades in the palette:

Betelgeuse - Say it three times & pack this ghoulish lime matte all over the lid for a bright neon eye.

Paranormal - Deep emerald with metaphysical green glitter. Use a finger to apply all over the lid for a sparkling smoked eye.

Draw a Door - Blend this dirty yellow matte eyeshadow in the crease with Neurotic eyeshadow on the lid for a dirty, golden eye.

Neurotic - This mossy gold has a true foiled, opaque texture. Apply to the center of the lid for eyes that glow.

Recently Deceased - Use this dimensional metallic purple pressed pigment on the face or body.

Lost Souls - Lucid warm violet pressed pigment with an ultra-matte texture.

Little Accident - The fine luminescent particles make this magenta pressed pigment make this shade glow.

Bio-Exorcist - Dust this amethyst matte pressed pigment on the cheeks for an unusual blush they can’t ignore.

Out of all of the shades, the one that I had a little bit of trouble with was Bio-Exorcist. While you can use it for the cheeks, you really had to work with it to get the opacity you wanted. Another thing to note is that the purple shades also stain your eyes, so that's something to be aware of. Also, the matte shades had really bad kick up, so I had to use the brush lightly to apply on my lids.

The Waiting Room Palette is centered more around Lydia's Color Story. Out of the two palettes, this one is my favorite because the formula is more consistent and it didn't stain my eyes which was nice. Here are the shades in this pressed pigment palette:

Obituary - Dust this true burgundy matte shade in the crease, with Lydia shadow on the lid for a smoked red eye. No Exit - The deepest of the burgundy shades in this palette, use it to add depth to your red looks. Sawed Girl - Metallic cranberry pressed pigment with a magical sparkle of purple flecks. Dante’s Inferno - Devilishly dimensional metallic maroon shadow with a fiery copper shift. Lydia - Red metallic pressed pigment. The opaque formula provides a true, foiled texture. Char Man - Burnt to a crisp and ultra-black matte eyeshadow. Smudge this shade in the lash line for a fuller lash effect. Tombstone - This mid-tone grey can effortlessly diffuse the edges of your black shadow for a killer grayscale blend. Shrunken Head - Use this light grey matte eyeshadow to transition your grey toned looks and shrink the appearance of harsh lines. Juno - This metallic will add a transparent wash of eerie silver sparkle. Sandworm - White matte eyeshadow with a grey undertone, pack it on the center of the lid to brighten.

I had a little bit of difficulty getting Sandworm to work but it is the lightest shades and I tend to have trouble with pastel shades in general.

Aside from some of the issues I had with some of the shades, overall both palettes get a score of 9 out of 10.

Next up, the Gel Liners and Pigment Paint.

The Afterlife (Neon chartreuse Ultra-matte) and 125 Years (Opaque and modern Ultra-Matte gravestone grey) are really fun gel liners that apply creamy and smooth on the lids. I had a lot of fun playing with these colors.

The Utterly Alone Pigment Paint is a gorgeous rich purple hue with luminescent indigo pigment. It also applied creamy and smooth like the gel liners, but the only thing I noticed after removing it was the staining.

I really enjoyed and was pleasantly surprised by the gel liners and pigment paint. Aside from the slight stain from Utterly Alone, I really enjoyed these items.

Overall, the gel liners and pigment paint get a score of 9.5 out of 10

Next on the list is the Supernatural Lash Mascara.

The mascara, really slaps! This is one of the best high end mascaras I have used. I don't know if it's the formula, the wand or both but it's really good. This worked really well for me personally. I can describe the formula as a higher end version of the Essence Lash Princess Mascara and I LOVE my Lash Princess Mascara. The only downside to this item is the price, but the quality makes it worth it. I really hope Melt keeps this one around or brings it back in different packaging.

The mascara gets a score of 10 out of 10

Next is the Lip Paints:

The lip paints are interesting because they have different functions. The first step when you apply it is that it start shimmery, then when it sets, it's an electric foil, and when you remove it, it leaves a nice lip stain color. With that said, here are the three colors and how they change over time:

Weirder & Weirder: Starts with a black base, then a purple shift. Once removed leaves behind a subdued pink stain.

It's Showtime!: Warm purple metallic liquid with a pink duo-chrome shift. Once the foiled finish fades, you’ll be left with an audacious berry stain. (This one is my favorite)

Strange & Unusual: Candy apple red liquid with a peculiar fuchsia duo-chrome shift. Once removed, becomes a bright pink.

The lip paints are really comfortable to wear, smell really nice and sweet (they smell like cake to me) and since they serve a multifunction purpose, they are really cool and fun to wear! The only downside to them is that Weirder & Weirder is not as wearable for most people due to how dark it is, but I really enjoy wearing it personally.

Overall, I give the lip paints a 9.5 out of 10.

Next, the lipsticks, which I have mixed feelings on them.

While the colors are very true to the theme and collaboration, I am not the biggest fan of the Ultra Matte formula. Here the lip shades for posterity:

Miss Argentina: Vermillion Ultra-Matte lipstick with an intensely bright tone.

Ghost With The Most: Ghastly olive-green lipstick in our classic Ultra-Matte texture.

Calypso: Iridescent, sparkling magenta lipstick which allows you to build to your desired intensity. This is the only one that is a more creamy formula.

I love all of the colors but Melt's Ultra Matte Formula is very uncomfortable for me to wear. I had to wear lip balm before applying the Ultra Matte lipsticks just so that I have a bit of comfort.

With this in mind, the lipsticks get a 7 our of 10 score.

The last item I am going to review are the Lydia Brush Set.

The brush set is very lovely and nice, the only one I had an issue with was the lip brush. I'm not sure if it was the brush itself or what, but it felt a little scratchy on my lips. The rest of the brushes applied nicely and were soft. The bag is fantastic quality and really nice too.

The brush set and bag get a score of 9 out of 10.

The only items I didn't review were the Eyelash curler and the mirror because these items are nice but there was nothing unusual about them. If anything, the only thing that stood out about the mirror was the design and we already know that the design slaps.

I really enjoyed the collection and despite some of the minor issues I had with the products, I really enjoyed them. This is one of the best Collabs that I had the pleasure of purchasing and collecting. While the PR Box was very expensive, it was worth it and the attention to detail was fantastic. You could really tell that so much love and creativity really went into this Collab.

Overall, this collection gets a final score of 9 Beetlejuice out of 10.
